So, who am I and what is this… Why are we both here?
I'm here because I needed to find an outlet to express myself in a more formal setting, documenting my life and have something to look back on, a way to remember. I’ve never been much into putting myself out there in public, or taking pictures, though this is changing now that I’m in my 30’s.
At 30 I quit drinking, which was a decade long “passion” of mine. This was the catalyst to improving my life, as I couldn’t just sit around doing essentially nothing. As I knew this time would come, I decided to leave Canada. There will be quite a few more articles written about why, and the thought process on deciding where to go, however that’s for a later date.
At 20, I moved out of my parents house to New Zealand, a chance at something new, something completely different, something exciting. That was the best year of my life, and I’ve decided to chase that dragon once again. That was the year I discovered a desire to apply for university and make something better of myself. The next 6 years were spent there; 5 years for a Bachelor of Music - Audio Engineering, 1 year for a Bachelor of Science - Computer Science (dropped out). 21 through 28 was spent in university, then the last few years I’ve been working as a Software Developer.
This time spent as a software developer is truly not what I paid for in University, and a big reason that I can’t live in Canada anymore. Yes, there was some starry eyed ambitions, though a lot of it is just the disappointment with what working alongside other engineers is like.
If this is going to be my life, I don’t want it.
Not.
One.
Bit.
So where does that leave a young man with no ties to his country, and a family who’s all moved abroad… In the perfect place for the adventure of a lifetime! Which is why you’re here, to follow that adventure! Starting with Colombia and Peru, then Paraguay and Argentina in search of a new home.
This adventure won't be starting until August, at my best guess, though leading up to that I’ll be documenting a lot of my learning and experiences with paperwork of different countries, and what my plans are going to be.
You get to follow along with how I’m making money, and the transition away from an office job to independent lifestyle on my own terms. The dream is to make money off X, YouTube, and Substack, with your help I get to make that dream a reality.
There’s going to be a lot of learning to do, getting better with my camera skills and relearning a lot of the writing abilities that I’ve let slip, but I think that starting a while before I leave is going to make up for that.
Thank you for reading my little spiel about myself, and hopefully you’ll stick around for more, and bear with me through the growing pains.
Welcome aboard fellow travelers!
